One of our goals as an organization is finding innovative ways to engage with the community, and — in particular — to support local music education. A few years ago, we embarked on a mission to visit as many elementary school orchestra programs in one day as we could. This year, we went on our 4th Annual Elementary Tour and our 1st Annual Junior High Tour, visiting orchestra students around Gilbert — between the two tours, we visited 14 schools and performed for over 800 students!
A huge thanks to GTF alumna, Cameryn Baum, who served as our tour coordinator. These two jam-packed days of educational performances wouldn’t have been possible without her tremendous help! Thanks, too, to the many Gilbert Public Schools teachers who brought us in! Here are few pictures from our crazy tours:
THANK YOU to everyone who helped make Fiddle Fest 2017 the best year yet! In addition to bringing in two wonderful guest artists, Adrianna Ciccone & Colin Cotter, we had 68 attendees from 37 schools — 56 violinists, 9 violists, 12 cellists, and 3 bassists. Amazing! We’re already dreaming up plans for next year’s Fiddle Fest and hope to make it even bigger!
Starting the day off with a performance from Adrianna & Colin.
Preparing for the afternoon concert with everyone on stage.
Four thrilled (and exhausted) Fiddle Fest Directors & Guest Artists after a long day: Taylor Morris, Adrianna Ciccone, Colin Cotter, & Sara Duce.
Our 5th Annual Fiddle Fest, hosted in conjunction with ASTA-AZ and Campo Verde HS, is just around the corner! Each year, we bring in different guest artists to teach and work with students and teachers from around the state of Arizona. This year, we’re incredibly excited to be welcoming fiddlers and multi-instrumentalists Adrianna Ciccone & Colin Cotter!
How is it nearly December?! The 5th season of the Gilbert Town Fiddlers has already been off to a crazy start, with more performances at this point in our season than any previous year. We’ve played for Trinity Church’s Harvest Festival, Sunrise Senior Living Center, Las Alegras Retirement Community, and as the special guests at Liberty Market’s 1st Annual ALS Fundraiser Picnic. Whew!
As we wrap up the semester, we’re in the process of planning just a few more performances and are getting stoked for the 5th Annual Fiddle Fest in January! Registration will be open shortly.
Join the Gilbert Town Fiddlers for their final concert of the 2015-2016 season! Featuring all-original arrangements by the fiddlers themselves, this is going to be a concert jam-packed with awesome tunes that you won’t soon forget. There will also be CDs and t-shirts for sale!
It’s been a crazy few months here at the Gilbert Town Fiddlers, but we’re excited to share our new logos (shown above and to the side) designed by the brilliant Saskia Leggett in collaboration with our students!
And while our site still needs some more work, we’ve also added all of our current student bios and photos for the 2014-2015 season. Learn about our musicians here!
We’re looking forward to the next few months, which will include some workshops with incredible musicians, our annual elementary school tour, and a performance for members of the American String Teachers Association next month at the state conference of the Arizona Music Educator’s Association. Exciting times!
